Wainuiomata

Bizzy Lizzy’s Cafe in the Homedale Village, serving up Ripe coffee. Open Tuesday to Sunday until 4pm. Blackboard menu and delicious breakfast and lunch menu too. A great stop on the way to the Wainuiomata Coast. 135 Main Road, Wainuiomata.


Petone

Empire Hotel restaurant has a really good kids' menu and activity crafts to keep them busy.

Hoopers Cafe on Petone waterfront, for lunch and brunch.

Kensington Restaurant in the Petone Working Men’s Club has a buffet so kids can choose what they want from a wide selection of food - now that's kid-friendly! Kids are free on Sundays (with a paying adult). Booking is recommended. You don’t have to be a member to dine there.

Go Bang Espresso cafe at 182 Jackson Street in Petone. Tolerant of children and babies.

Lone Star cafe offers a good child's menu with lots to select from and they provide kids colouring materials with the menu. Cnr Jackson and Buick Streets, Petone.

Speights Ale House restaurant in Petone offering lunch and dinner. A family favourite for dinner - high chairs available and a good kids menu. Special of $15 for main, dessert, drink and colouring pack to keep the kids occupied. They are awesome at tailoring your meals to come out to fit in with the little one's eating.

Celcius Coffee cafe has a small children's play-area and selection of toys. Great kids' menu and super-delicious food with coffee roasting on site. 130 Hutt Road, Petone.

The Sprig & Fern Tavern
is a Family friendly pub that has games and toys for the little ones. You can also bring your own food. 146 Jackson Street, Petone.

Espresso Garden Cafe - The cafe in Mitre 10 Mega in Alicetown, Petone is just across from the store’s large indoor playground. 


Eastbourne

Days Bay Pavillion - a real favourite for the family; a kid-friendly option in Days Bay, offering breakfast, lunch or dinner. Williams Park is across the road from the beach and wharf. You can enjoy a meal or relaxing coffee in the sun while the kids play ball in the park, whizz around on the toddler push bikes, feed the ducks and play hide and seek in the large hedge. Behind the park there are tennis courts and bush walks. Across the road (Tui Road) there is a petanque area. Colder days there's a warm fire inside and toys for the kids to play with. It's also great for family pizza nights with its yummy woodfired pizza ovens!

Chocolate Dayz Cafe, at Days Bay Beach in Eastbourne. Great kids' menu. Opposite the beach so bring a towel and change of clothes for the kids!

Lifeboat Tavern & Restaurant at 5 Oroua in Eastbourne has a good child's menu and toys to play with. Sundays kids eat free if adults order a meal!

Vostrogusto Cafe, 11 Rimu Street (Eastbourne Village). For the most devine gellato ice creams, sit in the bean bags under the trees and enjoy - super kid friendly! Then follow the bronze seal and head to Rona Bay wharf for some fishing or seaside and playground fun with your children.


Lower Hutt

Abode Cafe at 28 Cornwall Street, Central Lower Hutt, has a child's inbuilt play house with tables right next to it so you keep an eye on the kids.They even have a school lunch menu!

Foggy Dew for dinner has a cheap kids menu and nice adult food too. Its an old historical bar at 64 High St, Lower Hutt.

Kotuku Café at 58 Guthrie St, Waiwhetu. While there you can check out the Māori Treasures Hetet Art Space next door. It has beautiful traditional and modern Māori art and weaving - a real treasure.  

Reka Cafe is located at the Dowse Art Museum. Once you've enjoyed the many child friendly exhibits and hands on activities, you can relax outside while the kids play in the newly created outdoor area. Big basket of toys and fantastic food and coffee!

Ripe has a small play area indoors and a covered sandpit and slide outside. It's lovely and sheltered on a sunny day. 

Sweet Vanilla Cafe at 49 Pretoria Street (corner of Pretoria and Kings Crescent), Lower Hutt, has yummy food and toys for the kids.

The Anchorage is a community cafe in High Street. There's toys for the kids and room to play. If you are running a parent education course they can organise a short-term creche if needed.

Wholly Bagels cafe at 34 Knights Road, Lower Hutt, has a good play area and kids' menu.

Java Point Cafe on the corner of Margaret and High Street in Lower Hutt is a child friendly environment with a blackboard, books, and toys offered in a special seating area in the cafe. A "Java Point Little Menu" is available for children.


Western Hills

Benedicts Cafe at 141 Dowse Drive, Maungaraki, has won kid-friendly awards! It has plenty of space, a fantastic play area for kids with a built-in lighthouse, loads of toys and really tolerant staff. It's always full of mums and toddlers on week days. You get to enjoy the aroma of freely roasted coffee and a cozy fireplace too.


Stokes Valley

Hardware Cafe -  8 Evans Street, great kids menu and high chairs!

Mr. Pies 'n' Fries, Owen St, Stokes Valley Road. Child-friendly with a play area.


Upper Hutt

Fresh Bun cafe at 97-101 Main St, Upper Hutt - cheap eats; plenty of elbow room; high chairs; staff who like children.

Mayfair Cafe & Restaurant has a children's menu and toys. Open for brunch and dinner.

Short Straw Cafe is a beautifully crafted straw house in Whitemans Valley, Upper Hutt. It's worth the drive as there's room for the kids to play outside in the playground, petanque and sandpit and inside it has a large play area with fireplace. It's a great location for large groups of children. 50 Johnsons Road, Whitemans Valley.

Mitre 10 Mega at 9 Park Road (opposite Maidstone Max) has a cafe and there is a fenced playground in the garden centre (though probably best suited for ages 3+).

Wicked Espresso cafe on Fergusson Drive (opposite Trentham Memorial Park) has kids toys and a fenced outdoor space with a playhouse. Lovely on a sunny day.

Fig Tree Cafe on Fergusson Drive (also opposite Trentham Memorial Park) has an area with kids toys.

Vivere Cafe at 851 Ferguson Drive (opposite the library) are an Italian inspired, family friendly cafe. Now with a newly dedicated childrens' indoor area with a tv, toys, and equipment in addition to their Outdoor fenced play area. In conjunction with Paper Plus, Vivere are now running Kids Storytime every Tuesday at 10:30am.




Naenae breakfast club

Come along for a (Free) healthy breakfast every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning between 7:30am - 8:30am at the Naenae Community Hall, Supper hall. All School aged students aged 5-18 are welcome, and parents are also invited to share a free tea or coffee.
